Six years ago, my siblings and I started Truebill from my brother’s basement. We discovered that we were all paying for subscriptions we had forgotten about, and realized just how difficult it was to get a single view of our finances. We knew there had to be an easier way so we started building one.
After we reached 1 million premium users, we realized the dire need for personal finance management.
When we launched Truebill in 2016, we simply set out to build a tool we ourselves would want to use: a platform to keep track of money and subscriptions. Five years and $18 billion of transactions later, we've helped around seven million people through some of the worst financial circumstances in United States history.
Truebill was born with a simple goal—to make it simple to track and manage subscriptions and bills. At the time, we were building the product for ourselves as much as we were for others; after all, who wouldn’t want a tool that helps you avoid wasting money?
Four months ago, we launched Truebill out of Y Combinator’s W16 batch with the mission to transform the way consumers access and control all of their paid subscriptions and recurring bills.
Today’s an exciting day for us – we’ve changed our name to Truebill.com to reflect our new mission. When we came up with BillNinja, we thought we’d help people “slash” their bills from subscriptions and recurring payments.
